Stopping Hiccup/停止打嗝

Taught by a German, tried, tested, and true:

Ask the patient what s/he had for lunch the day before yesterday. As s/he thinks about it, the hiccup is going to stop in no time.

The theory is making him/her take his/her mind off hiccuping. Most people have same breakfast everyday. Dinner is the most impressive meal of the day. Yesterday's memory is too fresh to take the patient's mind away. Hence the lunch the day before yesterday is perfect. If the hiccuping does not stop, continue asking him/her other questions.


德國人教的,屢試不爽:

問他前天中午吃啥?在他回想時,打嗝會自動停止。

理論:讓他分心。大部分人的早餐少變化。晚餐較隆重而難忘。昨天的記憶猶新。因此問「前天的午餐吃啥?」最完美。如果打嗝還是不停,可以繼續追問其他問題。
