Penghu Folks/

Last night, a talk show was promoting tourism in Penghu Islands. One of the guests is a Penghu native. He says people of Penghu love their home town. Although most people have moved out of the town, very few people are willing to sell their houses passed down from their ancestors.

Mom told me that grandpa's comment on Penghu folks. He said although they were poor, they were smart and hard working people. When they left Penghu for Taiwan, every one of them carried a scale. Upon arrival, they headed to the fish market to buy fishes with the little money they had. Then they sold the fish in the city by the side walk. They kept going back to the market to buy more fish. Once sufficient fund had been accumulated, they moved on to other businesses.
