Taiwanese Greeting: Have you eaten?

Mother says, the standard greeting for Taiwanese peasants are "Jia ba ve?" (Have you eaten?), and the reply "A li a ve kun o?" (Yet have you not gone to bed?)

One night, around 23:00, I over heard the following conversation in a convenient store.

Woman: Have you not yet gone to bed?

Man: I couldn't since you haven't.

Woman: Do you ever sleep? I have never seen you sleep.

Man: Do you ever take a shower? I have never seen you taking a shower.

Woman: ... you... you... I am going to ask your wife to dicipline you.

Man: Honestly, I am telling the truth. I have never seen you taking a shower.

At this moment, everyone in the store were laughting our heads off. On my way out, I couldn't help taking a glance at the man. He just caught my sight and said "I am telling the truth!"
