惜別的海港/Saurkraut

惜別的海港/Saurkraut

當海港巨蛋店剛開幕時,下午餐是有螃蟹的。而零北就是衝著螃蟹一口氣買了它二十多張餐券。後來沒了螃蟹,零北就很給它有上當的感覺,因而歸LP火。今天終於把所有的餐券都用光了。以後再也不會上海港了。於是就留個紀念吧:

上面那道菜號稱德國/The Chinese part of this sign also states that these pork knuckle (hax) is German style:

然而洋文卻寫著.../Yet, instead of Saurkraut, the other sign reads...

這麼翻譯是沒錯,但德國人愛吃酸菜是出了名的;甚至已經成了德國人的蔑稱。

維基百科:Kraut

Kraut is a German word recorded in English from 1918 onwards as a derogatory term for a German, particularly a German soldier during World War I and World War II.[1] Its earlier meaning in English was as a synonym for sauerkraut, a traditional German and central European food.

Saurkraut這個字也被收錄到英文版的維基百科中:

Sauerkraut (play /ˈsaʊərkrt/German pronunciation: [ˈzaʊ.ɐˌkʁaʊt] ( listen)Yiddishזויערקרויט zoyerkroyt [ˈzɔjərˌkrɔjt]), French Choucroute, Polish Kiszona kapusta) directly translated: "sour cabbage", is finely shredded cabbage that has been fermented by various lactic acid bacteria, including LeuconostocLactobacillus, and Pediococcus.[1][2] It has a long shelf-life and a distinctive sour flavor, both of which result from thelactic acid that forms when the bacteria ferment the sugars in the cabbage. It is not to be confused with coleslaw, which receives its acidic taste fromvinegar.
