A friend asked for reasons on why I consider Shanghai is a crappy town.
I have decided I might as well document my response.
- Toxic: Air and water is heavily polluted. Unless you are hosted as a VIP by a high ranking government official, food poisoning, including long term, is guaranteed.
- Traffic: As a matter of fact, all regulations, laws, and rules are for decoration purpose only, so that China can try to pretend to be a civilized country. Pedestrians do not have right of the way even on the side walk. Cars burning reds under the nose of police.
- Chinese: Spits, lies, and can be violent.
One the other hand, Shanghai can also be considered the most civilized town in China, compared with other Chinese cities.
